TLDL Notes: Turn Podcast Summaries Into Useful Decisions

A lightweight TLDL notes template for capturing claims, decisions, questions, and source timestamps from AI podcast briefings.

TLDL briefings help you decide what deserves deeper attention. A good note should preserve that advantage: capture the claim, why it matters, and what you will do next—without recreating the entire episode.

The five-line note template

Source: episode, speaker, link, and timestamp
Claim: the idea in one sentence
Evidence: the example or data offered
Decision: what this changes for me or my team
Follow-up: one question, experiment, or owner

What to capture

Capture decisions and disagreements. A surprising claim is more useful when paired with who said it and what evidence they offered. Record timestamps when TLDL provides them so you can recover the surrounding context.

Separate the speaker's view from your conclusion. “The guest predicts X” is different from “X will happen.” This small distinction keeps notes from turning confident commentary into accidental fact.

Prefer one action over ten highlights. If a briefing changes nothing, archive it. If it changes something, name the smallest next step: test a tool, read a primary source, ask a customer, or update an assumption.

A 15-minute weekly review

  1. Browse the latest TLDL issues.
  2. Select at most three ideas tied to current work.
  3. Add source links and timestamps.
  4. Convert one idea into an experiment or question.
  5. Delete notes that are interesting but unactionable.
